Do you judge people by appearances?

Do you ever judge anyone by the way they look? I try not to coz we all know looks can be deceiving but I still, at times, do tend to judge by appearance. I think it just comes naturally – you just automatically tend to make a sort of image in your mind about anyone you see.. does it happen to you?

Happiness.. what is it, really ?

Friends.. ever wonder what is happiness ? What makes you happy ? Are you happy ? Do these thoughts ever cross your mind ? Well.. i was just thinking .. and realised I don't really know what happiness is or how/when i believe i will truly be happy.
Its really complicated - there are so many things which can make one happy - be it money, friends, music, family, spouse, meditation, dance, success.. SO MUCH MORE. It is difficult to define happiness let alone reach a stage of true bliss.

Fake greenery - How low can the government get?

Did you hear about the chinease government painting a mountian green?? Jeez.. how can they stoop so low. Just to make the bare mountain 'look good' - instead of planting trees, they just took a shortcut and painted the entire mountain. Locals nearby were furious as they had to move out coz of heavy smell of paint. Most of all i think they are tampering with the natural environment which is simply wrong!
What are you views?

HIT AND RUN - Would you ever do that ?

If you ever hit a person really hard while driving and you know it's your fault, what would you do?
1. Would you be so scared and confused and just run (the ever famous ' hit and runs'?) OR
2. Would you stop the car, calm down and have the courage to get down and see how badly hurt the person is (or even alive or not?) and take him/her to hospital? Would you have that much courage? Be truthful!
I really don't know what i'd do if ever in such a situation.
Have you ever been in such a situation? what did you do?

Sexual Harassment – Can we banish this ‘crime’ from our society ?

There has been a steady increase in the number of sexual harassment cases worldwide every year – This, I would say is a GOOD thing – You ask why ? For the simple reason that earlier women were simply scared to ‘report’ them !

Since ages I have myself seen and met women who have suffered harassment mainly at their workplace / streets and I ask them why they didn’t take action then and there. If each and every one would be strong enough to stand up for themselves, I doubt if there will ever be any such cases.. let alone the matter of reporting them. So, YES , I truly believe that this crime can easily be banished from our society .. but for that.. women of today (Especially of developing / under developed countries) need to be confident and smart enough to tackle any un-favorable advances made by the opposite sex .

So, if the women of today is ready and willing, there will be no such thing as sexual harassment.. oh now, maybe it would become a crime for men then ;) ..and trust me .. I HAVE heard few cases of that happening lately as well.. LOL

Charities – to give or not to give

Today, we have millions of charities worldwide. In India alone we have thousands – Big & Small. How do we decide which ones are scams and which are genuine? How many billions of individuals & organizations contribute to a cause, with no idea of where the money in going? How do you, as an individual decide which charity to donate to ? How do we know that all the money is not just getting transferred to an individuals Swiss bank account? Do we just give & give & give in blind faith or hopes that all the money will be utilized fruitfully?
So many questions which I always fail to answer and look for answers to. I , like many other people, believe in giving back what we get (to an extent ofcourse J) – Karma, which is called. But, don’t know how or rather where to start from.
What are the things you keep in mind before donating? Do we believe that donating to bigger organizations is ‘safer’ as they are recognized worldwide or do you have your own mantras ? For me, it is always a big plus if I personally know some member of the charity..even if it is a small scale organization – I would at least be 100 % sure my money is not in hands of one/few scammers. Another excellent way is the ones which the charity – Give India – follows. Once you decide to donate, they give you a login & password to members page on their site and you can choose not only which NGO to support but also a particular child you would like to sponsor food/education or health care for. Infact if the NGO is nearby you are even encouraged to visit the child you have helped. This leaves no doubt for speculation in your mind. I hear bigger charities like UNICEF also follow this.
So, friends that was some random ranting about what was going on in my mind these last few days.. do comment and let me know which charities you choose to donate to (if so) and why you choose them ?
